San Francisco bans Happy Meals
"Parents, not politicians, should decide what their children eat, especially when it comes to spending their own money," said Newsom. "Despite its good intentions, I cannot support this unwise and unprecedented governmental intrusion into parental responsibilities and private choices."
This is just one item on the long list of situations where everyone else is to blame for the behavior and habits of children, but parents are excused from the responsibility.

Agreed. i'm not into happy meals, but the restaurants aren't forcing kids to eat the meals. if parents would stop driving to fast food places then they wouldn't have to worry so much about what their kids are eating.

I guess I missed this news story. Although I've got to say that I may be able to count on one hand the number of actual happy meal purchases I've made for my kids in 15 years. My son, however could convince my mom-in-law to take him to McDonalds when ever he wanted it and he has consumed more than I would have ever bought him when we lived near her and when she has visited her. Fortunately he's usually only here for 3 or 4 weeks and we moved when he was 4 years old!LOL
I believe that parents should wise up and realize that we truly are what we eat. I've got a hugely particular eater in my son, but when I feed him I know what he is getting is good for him even if not as well rounded a meal as I would like it be.

This hit home more for me given my profession and what I have to do to make up for what parents don't do. It's frustrating.
