Birthday gift.
61% Bittersweet chocolate (my fave :o))
Handmade Candied Meyer Lemon Peel
Applewood Smoked Almonds
Lemon Oil
I didn't find any real lemon peel in my first few bites, which is good because I don't like fruit in my chocolate. It was really good. I can still taste the chocolate on my tongue. The bar is shiny and crisp. The lemon is strong. It just tastes really good.

Books: A Gift of Magic
Sadly, I haven't been able to read anything in a while. This is especially depressing because I know there are sequels out from books I'd been reading a couple of years ago and I can't keep up! Anyway, I decided that if I was going to keep up with my posting that I needed to write about something. So you're now being subjected to a book I read as a teen. A Gift of Magic by Lois Duncan.
Read when I was wishing for something more out of my life, A Gift of Magic is about a girl who hates that her parents have divorced, that she's had to move away from what she knows, and that she's lost the companionship of her sister due to a gift - dancing. However, shortly after she expresses her discontent, she discovers she was also given a gift - ESP. And it isn't all it's cracked up to be.
I really wanted that kind of gift and tended to read similar stories during my early teen years. However, Lois Duncan didn't write many more stories in that vein. Most of hers were much scarier. In fact, she wrote I Know What You Did Last Summer. Her books are really more appropriate for the 10-14 age range.

TV: A Fond Farewell
Stay tuned this year to the final year of the following shows:
Supernatural
Chuck
Eureka
The Closer
You will be missed, friends.
If you liked The Closer, there is supposed to be a spin-off, Major Crime, featuring Mary McDonnell, the woman that bugged Sedgwick's Brenda Leigh Johnson this year.

I thought about injecting my opinion on the matter, but I thought I'd just post the link instead.

Chocolate: Fiber One Chocolate Fudge Brownie
Let me level with you. Fiber One Chocolate Fudge Brownie is dry. It just is.
I've noticed that when healthy mixes with chocolate it is generally a miss rather than a hit. The problem is I eat them anyway. I can't drink milk, but I surmise they might just taste decent with a tall glass of milk. M also thinks they taste better when they're warm. My family tends to need fiber, and I'd much rather have these than some other fiber choices out there.

Books: The Kneebone Boy
The Kneebone Boy
by Ellen Potter
In this story, three children, Otto, Max, and Lucia are sent to their aunt's house and find out she isn't home. When they try to take a train back home they can't find one that will take them. Instead they go to their great aunt Haddie's house, and hear the legend of The Kneebone Boy. When they arrive at Haddie's, she isn't what they expected and they go off to find out more about The Kneebone Boy. The characters in the story are very funny and interacted well on pages. I enjoyed it so much reading it went by fast, and I was sad that it was over. Unfortunately Potter's books are about other things, so I won't be reading the others but you should read this one!

TV: American Horror Story
I watched the premiere of this show and I will likely never watch it again. It was that creepy.
Okay, so if you like horror I say, "Go for it." But let me set this up for you a little.
This family, Vivien, Ben, and their teenager Violet, are moving into this house with major history. They are going because Vivien caught Ben cheating while she was pregnant with a stillborn baby. They are trying to work things out even though Vivien can't forget what Ben did, Ben is bending over backward trying to be loving, and Violet (depressed as all) nearly hates both of them - Vivien for letting Ben come back and Ben for his betrayal.
Now that you got that, add the truly wickedness this house has, the freakin' crazy neighbors, and the creepy that is the promotional poster. I mean that's supposed to be a pregnant Vivien and that latex clad man on the ceiling may be the father - it's not Ben. I've been having nightmares.

Miscellaneous: Nanowrimo
I like to write. Not enough to get something published, but I like it.
So I've decided to participate, albeit secretly, in Nanowrimo. By secretly I mean not signing up with the other thousands of writers. This year I just want to see if I can to it: writing 50,000 words from November 1 to November 30. I've spent a lot of time the last couple of months trying to come up with a viable plot on paper and a first chapter in my head. (You can't start writing until Nov. 1).
Here were a couple of my ideas (in part taken from multiple sources on the web):
A story based on...
the idea that the dead turn into diamonds.
a society that runs on a fortune telling 8 ball.
that real fairy godmothers help you with your career not your love life.
Anyway, I got a great suggestion from my dad...and I'm rolling with it. Wish me luck!

Men: "Greg Sanders"
Geek/Nerd: Greg Sanders
Show/Movie: CSI: Crime Scene Investigations
Actor Name: Eric Kyle Szmanda
Year of Birth: 1975
Status: Single
Height: 6'
Fun Fact: Burmese human rights activist
I wish I had more words, but it's simple. He's no real buff looker, just an adorable dork. He's changed a bit since he started on CSI, and moved up in the world. He wasn't really important when the show first started with him and now he's a full fledged CSI out of the office.

MIA
Work has gotten the best of me these last few weeks. If you've been following me at all this year you'll have noticed my less than stellar 2011. However, things have taken a wonderful turn and I'm now enjoying 2011. :) It almost doesn't seem to matter that my nose is full of... well, let's just say I'm not the healthiest at the moment. I apologize for my lapse in posts, but I will be up and going in a week or so. In the meantime, celebrate my new outlook with some chocolate :)
